Getting Dressed Up to Work

Master's Thesis in Fine Arts, 2025

In 2025 I wrote a thesis that brought together everything I am as an artist. Two worlds that look different from the outside but share the same need to be seen.

This thesis explores sex work as a medium of artistic production through a series of video-performances carried out in public space. The research centers on the intimate moment that precedes sex work: the bodily and symbolic ritual of transformation a sex worker undergoes when getting ready to work.

The central concept is what I call the transitional threshold, that private instant of preparation that normally stays hidden. I brought it into the street. Five performances, two cities, the same gesture repeated until it became something else.

The work asks: where exactly do sex work and performance art cross? Both involve the body as medium, require an external gaze to exist and produce desire in real time.
